Website migration and redesign, without the downtime drama
Moving hosts, changing platforms, replacing a theme, or rebuilding outright: planned, backed up, staged, and checked at every step, so the new site goes live and the old problems do not follow it.
We have done this to our own site first: this website was a WordPress site until we rebuilt it by hand as a fast static site, with every old URL checked and the whole change verified page by page. Client migrations follow the same discipline: a written plan, a full backup, the move built on staging, redirects mapped before launch, and a checklist run after, so traffic, rankings, and enquiries survive the change.
For sites that have outgrown their host, platform, or design
Sites get stuck: a host that cannot keep up, a theme nobody dares touch, a platform that no longer fits how the business sells. Staying put costs quietly every month; moving feels risky enough to postpone for years.
A migration done as a project, with staging and redirects and verification, removes the risk that makes people postpone it.
Sound familiar?
- A host that is slow, unreliable, or raising prices past its value
- A platform that no longer fits: shop features bolted onto a brochure site
- A design that embarrasses you in front of the clients you want
- Fear of losing search rankings and working links in a move
- An old site so fragile that every change is a negotiation
What we take on
Host-to-Host Migration
Your site moved between hosts with files, database, email considerations, and DNS handled in the right order, and the old copy kept until the new one is proven.
Platform Moves
Rebuilds across platforms, including to and from WordPress and WooCommerce, with content and product data carried across, not retyped.
Theme Rebuilds & Redesigns
A new look on a sound foundation: your content and structure kept, the presentation rebuilt, on staging, where changes cost nothing.
Redirects & SEO Preservation
Every old URL mapped to its new home before launch, metadata carried over, and the sitemap and Search Console updated at go-live.
Staging & Backups
The new site is built and approved on staging, and full backups of the old site are taken and kept, so retreat is always possible.
Launch Verification
A post-launch checklist run page by page: forms, checkout, links, images, and analytics, verified working, not assumed working.
A note on scope: rankings after any migration can move for a short period while search engines re-crawl, even with perfect redirects. We do the preservation work properly and monitor it, and we will never promise a move is ranking-neutral.
A move with a paper trail
Audit & plan
Your current site is inventoried: pages, URLs, data, integrations, and the risks specific to your move, in a written plan.
Backup & staging
Full backups are taken and the new site is built on staging for your approval before anything goes live.
Move & rebuild
Content, data, and design are carried across, with redirects mapped for every URL that changes.
Launch & verify
Go-live on a planned window, then the verification checklist and redirect checks are run and reported.
What is included, and what is not
- A written migration plan based on a full audit of your current site
- Complete backups of the old site, kept after launch
- Staging build and your approval before go-live
- Redirect mapping for changed URLs and post-launch checks
- A launch report listing what was verified, page by page
- New hosting, domain, and license fees (arranged in your name)
- Brand identity and logo design from scratch
- Rewriting your site's content (available as separate copy work)
- Rescuing a migration someone else already started mid-flight, without an audit first
Nothing goes live untested
- Staging first – you approve the new site before the world sees it
- Retreat stays possible – the old site and its backups survive until the new one is proven
- URLs are assets – every changed address is redirected deliberately, none left to 404 quietly
- Verified, then announced – the checklist is run and reported before we call it done
Will my site be down during the move?
Planned migrations run with little to no visible downtime: the new site is built and approved on staging, and the switch itself is a short, scheduled step, usually outside your busiest hours.
Will I lose my search rankings?
Proper redirects and carried-over metadata protect most of your equity, and we map every changed URL before launch. A short period of movement while Google re-crawls is normal after any platform change, and anyone who promises zero movement is not being straight with you.
Can you redesign at the same time as migrating?
Yes, and staging makes it safe: the rebuild and the redesign are approved together before launch. Combining them is usually cheaper than two separate projects, and the plan will show both parts clearly.
Replacing WordPress with a hand-built static website
We migrated our own site from WordPress to a hand-built static site: every page rebuilt, old URLs checked, and performance verified after launch. This website is the result.
